Ron Fuller: “The Epitaphs of Little Rock’s Mount Holly Cemetery”
CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies Presents LEGACIES & LUNCH
Speaker: Ron Fuller
About five years ago, Ron Fuller began a project of preserving and recording the epitaphs on graves in Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock. Mount Holly has over 6,000 burials, and a large number of the memorials have extensive inscriptions on them. Fuller will share a small selection of the over 1,500 inscriptions he has catalogued from the database he is building for the cemetery and for other archives. He will also discuss measures undertaken to clean and preserve the monuments at Mount Holly, some of which date back to the 1830s.
Ron Fuller is originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas. A former U.S. Army officer and a three-term member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, he owns a public relations and lobbying firm in Little Rock. With his great love of military and Arkansas history, he has written for numerous historical publications and has had several articles featured in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and AY magazine. He is active in numerous central Arkansas civic organizations and also serves as the chairman of the Heritage Board of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. In 2018, he was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to serve as a member of the Arkansas History Commission and has recently been reappointed to the commission. He lives in Little Rock with his wife, Sue, and has two sons and four grandchildren.
