The Art of Living – Still Life
Many individuals planted flowers to beautify their surroundings and tended vegetable gardens to supplement their government-rationed diet. Others took advantage of classes offered such as painting and Japanese flower arranging, called ikebana. Many of the still-life paintings in the collection reflect these activities.
