Spring Art: Current Exhibitions & Book/Gift Sales

Come feast your eyes on three exhibitions currently mounted in the CALS Bobby L. Roberts Library of Arkansas History & Art before the building transforms for a time into use as a regular library. During the renovation of the CALS Main Library, the 1st floor of the CALS Roberts Library (current home of the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square) will be used to house “Mini Main,” which will include library services such as a computer lab, materials for checkout, holds pickup, and children and teen areas. Note: The 2nd floor Research Room will remain open and operate as usual.

For all the details on the renovation of the Main Library, go to Main on the Move.

AnarchoAnachro

On view through April 29
Landing Gallery

Spam enthusiast, U.S. Air Force veteran, and photo-collage artist the Right Reverend Sternodox wages holy war on inter-dimensional reptiles, killer klowns, and the soul-sucking blandness of daily life. His fascinating collages are a reflection of what happens if you stay up too late, drink only air, and consume highly charged free radicals.

Masquerading during the day as mild-mannered media editor Michael Keckhaver for the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas, Sternodox brings order to chaos by manipulating visual lines of thought and light pulled from the metaverse and tethers it to our reality.

Sulac and SLUGKNIVES: Super Crush

On view through May 27
Loft Gallery

Unveiling new artworks by local artists Sulac and SLUGKNIVES, this exhibition presents a split-screen reality check featuring works that prowl the edges of the art world like candy-colored heartworms. This is the perfect event to celebrate with your best friend or nemesis.

Rohwer and Jerome: Japanese American WWII Incarceration Camps in Arkansas

On view through June 24
Underground Gallery

Between 1942 and 1945, over 16,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated at Rohwer and Jerome, Arkansas. Inmates of all ages documented their experience using charcoal, watercolor, and pencil. The CALS Roberts Library is mounting the first large-scale exhibition of the Gould/Vogel Collection of artworks since 2018.
