The CALS Roberts Library is home to an extensive genealogy research collection as well as the CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies Manuscript Collections. Unlike the other CALS branches, our materials are non-circulating and must be used in the Research Room. The CALS Roberts Library Research Room is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 12 pm to 4 pm.

All CALS Butler Center processed collections are available to search through the Arkansas Studies Research Portal. This catalog search gives you access to the holdings of the CALS Butler Center as well as the UA Little Rock Center for Arkansas History and Culture, which are also available in the Roberts Library Research Room. Please note that only a small portions of our collections are digitized at this time.

We encourage users to begin with a finding aid search. Finding aids are written by the archival staff members who process the collections, and they give rich context and details about each collection’s contents. Each finding aid includes biographical or historical information about the collection’s creators or primary subjects; descriptive information about the scope of the material and the contents; associated subjects, persons, and groups; and an inventory of the collection. Each CALS Butler Center finding aid also includes links to digitized materials when they exist, so you won’t miss out on digitized items by searching within the finding aids.
