Using images from our collection, we have constructed an architectural tour of downtown Little Rock. Focused on the city’s commercial history, the virtual tour presents images from the past juxtaposed against modern images so that viewers can see how the city’s downtown architectural landscape changed over the years. The earliest images date from near the end of the Civil War, while the more recent ones document the revitalization and urban renewal that took place in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of the buildings shown no longer exist. Through this project, we hope citizens can gain a better understanding of how the built history of downtown Little Rock has evolved over the years.

Note: When viewing the project, be sure to click on the historical images so that you can make them larger and see more detail.
