Fall Art Exhibitions and Experiences at CALS

This fall offers many opportunities to view and experience art at the Central Arkansas Library System!

Exhibitions

From the Vault: A Survey of the CALS Art Collection

On view through Monday, December 30, 2024
Underground Gallery, CALS Roberts Library

The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) houses more than just books. CALS’s art program also actively collects and exhibits works by artists working and living in Arkansas.

This eclectic exhibition features historical and contemporary artworks that show the diversity of art being created in Arkansas.

The CALS Permanent Collection holds more than 1,000 works of art and incorporates a wide range of media, including paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photographs, and decorative arts. Works are added to the collection regularly through purchases and donations.

More art from the CALS collection can be seen throughout all our library locations. Roberts Library visiting information is here.

Arkansas Quilters Guild Exhibition

On view through December 9, 2024
CALS Adolphine Fletcher Terry Library

The Arkansas Quilters Guild was started in 1980 by a group of artists/artisans who wanted to create a supportive community of quilters to learn, teach, exhibit, and preserve the traditions of quilting in Arkansas. The public can vote for their favorite quilt through Sunday, December 1; the ribbon will be awarded on Monday, December 2.

The Central Arkansas Library System thanks the members of the Arkansas Quilters Guild for sharing their passion and craft with us for over 15 years with their annual exhibition at the Terry Library.

More information about the guild can be found at www.arkansasquilersguild.org.

Utilizing Shapes and Color to Tell Your Story,” with artist Monica “MoKasso” McGee

Sat., Oct. 26, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

CALS Rock It! Lab, 120 River Market Ave.

MoKasso will provide a calm, safe, meditative atmosphere, with solid structure, gentle instructions, and absolute freedom to experiment.

Free workshop, with room for about 30 attendees of any skill level (ages 16+ preferred; minors must be accompanied by an adult). Materials provided. Registration required, although some walk-ins can be accommodated if space allows. Register at https://events.cals.org/event/11866605.

Parking is free with validation in the CALS lot (space limited due to construction) or deck. Enter lot from 2nd St. and deck from President Clinton Ave.
