Springtime Art: 20 Years of 2FAN and More!
This month marks the twentieth year that CALS has participated in the beloved downtown Little Rock event 2nd Friday Art Night (2FAN). Celebrate with us this Friday!

Second Friday Art Night
March 14, 2025, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
CALS Rock It! Lab at 120 River Market Ave.
20th Anniversary of 2FAN!
We will have lots of free fun with artists from the Dedicated Visual Art Studio & Gallery hosting a free live screen-printing of a poster or t-shirt honoring our twenty years of dedication. Bring your own prewashed shirt, or one will be provided for you. Or just come watch skilled artists work their magic!
2FAN is a downtown Little Rock after-hours art event that happens on the second Friday of each month. Events are hosted at several locations in downtown Little Rock. At CALS’s monthly event, attendees will be greeted with local artists selling their work and/or providing art demonstrations, a DJ or performer playing music, and light refreshments and libations.
Music: Old-school and classic vinyl spun by DJ Swift 720

Local artists selling their work: DeQuan Whitley, Paul Milholland, Denise Felton, Cecilia Morales, The Blue Umbrella, Judd Mann, Gabriella Vernar, Oksana Cartwright, Alex Phillips, Deitra Blackwell, Jessica Jones Sosnoski, Chris Massingill, Robert Bean, Monica McGee, and more
PLUS: 2nd Friday Knit Night (part of 2FAN)
Bring your WIP (work in progress) and hang out for an evening of social knitting. Don’t know how to knit? We’ll teach you. Supplies provided.
Made possible by generous funding from the CALS Foundation and the Windgate Foundation.
For more information about all downtown 2FAN activities, visit the 2nd Friday Art Night Facebook page.

The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) houses more than just books. CALS’s art program also actively collects and exhibits works by artists working and living in Arkansas. This eclectic exhibition features historical and contemporary artworks that show the diversity of art being created in Arkansas.
The CALS Permanent Collection holds more than 1,000 works of art and incorporates a wide range of media, including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, photographs, and decorative arts. Works are added to the collection regularly through purchases and donations.
For Women’s History Month in March, From the Vault is featuring artworks by female artists in the CALS art collection, including prints, paintings, and drawings by V. L. Cox, Elsie Freund, Louise Mandumbwa, Delita Martin, and Marjorie Williams Smith, with sculptures by Robyn Horn and Helen Phillips.
Works by the following women artists can be viewed at branch libraries throughout the system:
Children’s Library: Equilla Marie Walker; Dee Brown Library: Amy Edgington; McMath Library: Susan Chambers; Nixon Library: Judy Honey and Jo Magee; Rooker Library: Adaja Cooper; and Williams Library: Alice Ayers, Adaja Cooper, and CC Mercer.
