CALS Seeks Public Opinion to Shape Future of the Library System

Help us improve your library experience! We’re working on the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan and we need your input.

The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking input from the public via an online survey. The survey (available in both English and Spanish) is accessible via Survey Monkey and will be open through August 5.

The survey will take participants between five and ten minutes to complete. Take the survey in English here, Spanish here, and for kids here.

This survey is the first opportunity for the public to weigh in on the future of the library system. CALS has created a steering committee that includes staff and community members who will work together to help guide the process. CALS will also be scheduling a series of public forums to take place during August. CALS is working with a consulting firm, Constructive Disruption, to help create these surveys. CALS previously worked with a different firm to create a strategic plan for 2019-2022; this new plan will cover the period of 2025-2028.

Of special note to frequent patrons of the CALS Roberts Library: There will be additional opportunities coming up to gather information from the public that is more closely related to CALS’s work with Arkansas history, archives, and genealogy, including some virtual town halls in August and some other information gathering in the fall.

Your voice matters!

This survey will help shape the vision for the future of CALS for the next three years.

“We often receive input from the public; individuals who are eager for us to hear their thoughts about how we utilize their tax dollars. This is an opportunity for patrons and non-patrons alike to help guide us on the future of the library here in central Arkansas. Our last strategic plan resulted in many of the things we have available today; including our wonderful community outreach team, our addition of book lockers as an option for patrons to pick up books outside of regular hours, the forthcoming bookmobile, and the most obvious, all of the renovations and upgrades happening around the system.”

— Nate Coulter, CALS Executive Director
