Celebrate the Holidays at the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square

You show your support for local artists and the library when you purchase books and gifts from the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square in the CALS Roberts Library. We have a wide variety of holiday ornaments, from whimsical to traditional. If you have a holiday party in your future, we have a wonderful selection of seasonal jewelry to jazz up any ensemble. All handmade creations come with information about the artist so you’ll know your gift was made here in Arkansas.

If you have a particular item that you would like to suggest to Santa, we can do that! If you let us know your wish list, we can make it available for any secret shoppers who might inquire.

When you don’t have a clue what to get…why not a gift card that covers both books and art/gifts? We have a lovely selection of gently read books and an impressive collection of Arkansas-related books. Our art ranges from bright and beautiful to simple and functional. You can shop for gifts, books, and art all in one place.

Second Friday Art Night (2FAN)

Come see us on Friday, December 10, for 2FAN, from 5 to 8 p.m. We will have an exhibition opening and continuing exhibitions on view, special guests Mr. and Mrs. Claus (Ric and Marlene Gremillion), hot cocoa and ice cream available from Loblolly Creamery, featured artist Richard Prewitt, and featured authors Brian and Terri Kinder signing copies of their book Buck and Ollie: A Christmas Time Story—as well as Michael Carenbauer on solo guitar!

This Month’s Exhibition Opening: Jane F. Hankins: The Imaginator Extraordinaire, The Underground Gallery

Jane Hankins: “Listening to the Voices of My Secret Selves”

Witty, whimsical, wonderful—these words describe the creative world of Little Rock artist Jane F. Hankins. The Jonesboro native has been a strong presence in the Arkansas art community for over twenty years. Specializing in sculpture in porcelain and stoneware as well as drawing and painting, Hankins is a designer for nationally marketed sculpture reproductions and the creator of award-winning fine art coloring books. Hankins’s work shows us that art does not have to be serious to be important. The body of work on display includes sculptures and paintings spanning at least two decades, and some larger sculptures from her private collection will be publicly exhibited for the first time.

On the second Friday of each month, the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square in CALS Roberts Library participates in 2nd Friday Art Night (2FAN). Galleries, museums, and businesses in downtown Little Rock are open from 5 to 8 p.m. for an after-hours gallery walk. This event is FREE and open to the public. While you’re visiting downtown, experience the other local vendors and restaurants in the River Market Entertainment District.

CALS Roberts Library visiting information is here.

Note: Masks are required. Patrons 2 years of age & older must wear a mask covering their mouth and nose. Remember to maintain social distance for the safety of yourself and others.
