According to the summary of the Library of Congress Cataloging in Process information, the summary of the book describes the main characters, Rachel Lee and Henrietta, who are cousins. The girls encounter three strangers who are intent upon seeing their grandfather, Dr. Robert McNeil. Dr McNeil is a Hot Springs physician and a Civil War veteran.
