Creating a legacy: Oral History (3rd-4th)

Students will participate in an intergenerational program called “Creating A Legacy” where they interview elders to establish multigenerational links to better understand time, continuity and change as it relates to personal histories.

Bromine: An Important Arkansas Industry

Arkansas ranks first in the world in the production of bromine, the basis for many widely-used chemical compounds. In this lesson students will learn about the formation and history of Arkansas’ bromine reserves in Union and Colombia Counties in the West Gulf Coastal Plain Natural Division. In this lesson students will learn about some of the climate changes that occurred over geologic time, shaping the land that we call Arkansas. They will come to distinguish between weather and climate as they study the ways in which climate impacts our lives.
